REDLANDS FIRE STATION NO. 1 redlands, california
The renovation and remodel of a 1940’s era fire station were completed in 2002. All the existing spaces were upgraded and a new weight room, separate crew rooms and exterior workshop and generator room were added.
Most of the original detailing, including the vented hose tower, ornate stucco trims surrounding the front facade brick, brass fire poles from the second floor to the apparatus bay, and cold formed stainless steel art deco railings were kept.
CEDG integrated upgrades into the existing fabric of the building. All windows in the building are new sound dampened, double paned windows. The mechanical, electrical, emergency generator, fire sprinkler and emergency response system were all upgraded with no visible impact to the building.
With this project, the fire department of Redlands has a modern station and has successfully maintained a vital link to the history of the city.
