SCULPTURE PARK AT INDIAN HILL & HARRISON
claremont, california
- completed. 2008 -

CEDG designed and helped oversee construction of Claremont’s newest park. Initially motivated by an interest to improve pedestrian safety, the City of Claremont worked with CEDG to upgrade the former traffic triangle into a sculpture park. In addition to making fine arts more available to the public, the park features drought-tolerant plantings and a highly efficient irrigation system. MPR rotary heads water the lawn areas, which enable precise control of overspray at the edges of the irregularly shaped lawn. Surface and subsurface drip lines were used in the shrub and groundcover areas. Not only do these have an application rate over 85%, but they are also low maintenance, and, in that they are installed below a layer of mulch or soil, quite resistant to vandalism.
