UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE PAVILIONS la verne, california
This building is an historic structure, the first tensile structure to be completed in the United States. This project is an integral portion of the Masterplan improvements which CEDG designed for the University of La Verne. This 5 phase adaptive reuse was completed over 4 years. Except for the first phase, which was a total building system upgrade and structural interior office towers, the phases were completed during summers and while the building was in use by the student population. During the same timeline of this project, CEDG also designed and oversaw construction of the front plaza of the building, a football program training facility, and a documentation and demolition of the old gym. CEDG doubled the square footage and use density of the building while maintaining the same power consumption as the 1972 designed building. We designed upgrades for all lighting, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, insulated the entire shell of the building, provided increased daylighting, and used low VOC and recycled materials throughout the building.
